Two West Swindon Churches are working together to give couples the chance to look at the key ingredients for a successful marriage in a seven week course starting on Monday 3 June, 7.30pm, at the DeVere Village Hotel, Shaw Ridge.
The course being run jointly by Gateway Church and the West Swindon Ecumenical Partnership of Churches is for couples who have been together for one or 61 years, for those who have a strong relationship or are struggling to hold things together.
It covers topics like foundations for a good marriage, communication, resolving conflict, the power of forgiveness, the impact of family, and sex.
Nigel Howarth from Gateway Church said: “There’s a lot of debate in society about the status of marriage. This popular course which is run right across the country champions marriage and aims to reinforce couples’ support for each other.”
Rev Clive Deverill added: “The setting of a course like this is important and we hope that by taking it out of a church and holding it in the comfortable surroundings of the DeVere will encourage couples to come along.
“It’s important to stress that there is no group work and you will never be asked to share anything about your relationship with anyone other than your partner.”
The cost is £25 per couple and includes coffee and cake, a practical talk designed to be encouraging and engaging, whilst giving time and space for discussion between couples.
