Megabus.com adds Swindon-London to its low cost inter city network
Do you fancy travelling to London for as little as £1 each way? Well, that dream could become a reality from Monday 6th December, when megabus.com introduces a Swindon-London service.
The low cost, inter-city bus travel service, brought to you by Stagecoach, will run two journeys in each direction between Swindon and The Greenline Coach Station, London Victoria, seven days a week. Buses will depart Swindon Stratton Park at 0845 and 1615, arriving in London at 1015 and 1800 respectively. Return journeys from London Victoria Greenline Coach Station depart at 1115 and 1900, arriving in Swindon at 1300 and 2045.
First launched 16 months ago to connect Oxford to London, megabus.com has quickly moved up the gears to become a transport phenomenon. Inspired by the budget airlines, which fluctuate prices according to demand and the time of booking, 1.3 million passengers have already travelled by megabus throughout the UK. Today, an army of over 200 drivers connect 30 towns and cities across the UK on 60 branded vehicles; and Swindon will become the 31st destination on Monday when it is added to the existing Cheltenham and Gloucester service.
Using a mix of 94-seat double-decker vehicles, bendy buses and luxury double-decker coaches, megabus.com offers journeys of up to 575 miles from as little as £1 per seat (plus 50p booking fee). Pricing varies according to demand, with the best prices offered to those who book early or opt for the less popular journeys. However all journeys remain competitively priced.
All bookings must be made online via a simple, dedicated and secure e-commerce website, www.megabus.com, with credit and debit card transactions processed by WorldPay, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Bookings can be made for journeys up to 45 days in advance, and as late as 30 minutes before the journey departure.
Travel is ticketless. Each booking is given a unique reference number, automatically emailed to customers when purchases are confirmed online, and shown to the driver on boarding. Passengers can also have their booking confirmed via an SMS text message for an extra 10p per message/reservation.
