Fairford Food & Drink Festival
organised by the Fairford & Lechlade Business Club and sponsored by Linden Homes
All the stalls have now been sold for the 4th annual Fairford Food & Drink Festival. This year, the event is being held a month earlier and the organisers – the Fairford & Lechlade Business Club – are praying for good weather!
Many of our favourite businesses have returned to tickle our taste buds with their delicious delicacies. We have the world famous chocolate brownies from Fairford’s very own 7a Coffee Shop complemented by home-baked savouries, cakes and preserves from Fairford Country Market. Other sweet and cake stalls are Cotswold Finest Cakes, a runner up in the Business Club Awards Most Innovative Business of the Year category and Jacqui’s Homemade Sweets selling home-made fudge, fruit pies and crumbles.
A bit of eye-candy for the ladies has Charlie Beldam on the Cotswold Gold stall selling Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil; as well as David’s Chilli Oil selling medium and hot chilli oils and Helen Sanderson from Stainswick Farm, Shrivenham selling her locally produced oil.
Try Henry Symonds’ delicious hog roast!
If it’s hot food you’re after, then Mr Miah from Fairford’s Curry King will be offering his delicious hot Indian food. You must try his Chicken Korma! As well as hot dogs and lamb burgers, Rowland Read from Leighfield Lodge Farm, nr Cricklade will have a selection of home-grown pork and lamb products for sale and Henry Symonds will be doing a delicious hog roast.
Good to know where your meat comes from after hearing all those tales about horse meat recently, so it’s great to have Love My Cow from Bourton-on-the-Water selling free range locally produced Hereford beef whilst New Wave Seafoods will tempt discerning customers with a variety of fish and fine foods.
If you are a cheese lover, Cerney Cheeses will make sure their stall is fully stocked with Artisan goat’s cheese. They sold out last year, so are making sure there will be enough for everyone this year!
Browsing round the stalls is bound to make you thirsty, so try some Compass Brewery bottled or draught beer from Carterton; or real ale in bottles, pints or halves from Halfpenny Brewery, Lechlade. Rather stick to tea or coffee? Then the Fairford WI ladies will be serving these together with a selection of sandwiches.
It is pleasing to see that a couple of Lechlade businesses have crossed the border and will be having a stall in Fairford: Dolci di Lechlade with confectionery and USA candy and Lechlade Twinning Association making fresh crepes with many different mouth-watering fillings.
Over 30 stalls
There are more than 30 stalls in total – far too many to mention here. So have a look at our website under “Stall Holders” to see who is exhibiting and find out a little bit more about the sellers: www.fairfordlechladefoodanddrink.co.uk.
Better still, come along to Fairford Market Place on Sunday 12 May from 10am till 4pm and see for yourself the wealth and variety of produce that is available in this beautiful area of the Cotswolds.
Lechlade Food & Drink Festival follows on Sunday 9 June
Lechlade Food & Drink Festival will follow a month later on Sunday 9th June. Why not come to both? There will be a few different stalls and some old favourites.
Thank you to all our sponsors (you can see who they are on the website) especially Archstone Land Limited and main sponsor, Linden Homes.
