This February Swindon Live will have you moving to some fabulous beats. Never before has the Swindon music scene featured such a wide variety of musical acts in one festival!
At long last Voulez Vous arrive at the Wyvern to bombard Swindon with a non-stop barrage of ABBA hits. After 15 years of touring this amazing live show and recording 3 fantastic ABBA albums, this group has well and truly earned its title as 'The World's Greatest Live Abba Show'. Their current act is enhanced by multi-screen projection and voice-over narration, and is without doubt the most authentic and enjoyable way to relive the ABBA experience.
An explosive Bands Night on Friday 8 February features local bands including The Alfonz, Rocketbox, Sanity Gone Wild and Aspects of Infinity. The future sound of Swindon will test the Wyvern Theatre's sound system to its limits!
See the Wyvern Theatre in a completely different way as our Jazz Lunch beckons all spectators onto the stage to be wined and dined to the sound of the fantastic Tim Collinson Quartet. A three-course lunch will be served as the Quartet play light and lively contemporary modern jazz sounds.
On St. Valentine's Day we have a sexy, stylish feast for the eyes and ears with Opera della Luna's The Mikado. This is musical theatre as you've never seen it before, as the internationally acclaimed singers and comedians spin around stage in Versace and Gaultier inspired couture – a show guaranteed to get couples in the mood for indulging their desires, and guaranteed to prevent singletons feeling anything like Bridget Jones this Valentine's!
In addition to these musical gems the Wyvern will welcome big names such as Barb Jungr and folk legends Brass Monkey, with a line-up that includes Martin Carthy, subject of a recent South Bank Show special, and John Kirkpatrick, a particularly fine exponent of the melodeon.
