Wiltshire has a new Ukulele group based in Ashton Keynes just north of Swindon. They are called the Ashton Keynes Ukulele Strummers and have just launched their new website to help attract new members. The website is, unsurprisingly, www.ashtonkeynesukulelestrummers.co.uk
They meet every Wednesday at 8pm in the bar of the White Heart Inn in Ashton Keynes. They then practise in the function room attached to the pub. There is a good mixture of brand-new players keen to learn as well as more experienced players who are more than happy to help newcomers.
The Ukulele has experienced a massive rise in popularity over the last few years with well known names like comedian Frank Skinner and pop star Joe Brown talking about it, playing it and stressing what great fun it is. The one thing that is repeated time after time is the ukulele’s ability to make people smile because it’s so accessible and so much fun!
If you are interested in joining the group they would love to hear from you. Look on the website or ring Lewis on 01285 861212.
