Sandra Jackson publishes her first novel.
Sandra Jackson from The Prinnels, who writes under the pen name of Jane Lark, has published her first novel, Illicit Love, having secured a contract with American publisher Sapphire Star, and is now looking forward to her second title, Passionate Love, being released in August.
Sandra began writing historical romance novels over ten years ago, balancing life as a working mother with her desire to express herself. Inspired by her love of history and the real life stories and passions of historical figures she writes intense love stories which turned the head of her publisher.
Commenting on the popularity of romance in the US Sandra said: “The genre is by far the top-seller in America, whereas in this country it’s more crime and thrillers. In 2011 it was the Association of Romance Novelists here in the UK which encouraged me to try the American market, and a year later it really paid off.
“The feedback so far has been really positive. My publisher even told me that my stories sparked her interest in the genre all over again.”
In May Sandra attended the RT Book Lovers’ Convention in Kansas City, USA, where she met readers and authors in the romance genre, including EL James of 50 Shades of Grey fame.
Sandra is quite clear about the EL James phenomenon: “My writing came before 50 Shades, and what I write is not erotica. I love the feeling of falling in love and it’s wonderful being able to do it time and time again in fiction.”
