All Buffy the Vampire Slayer are in for a big treat this month as Season 8 of the hit TV show hits local comic book store Swin City.
Twenty four issues long and with Buffy creator Joss Whedon himself writing the first and last four issues, with the remaining issues to be written by a mixture of acclaimed comic book writers and former Buffy writers, this is a comic book exclusive.
"There's a huge buzz," commented Ben Fardon, Swin City manager. "We knew that this book would be popular but we are seeing lots of new faces setting up a standing order so they will not miss a single issue."
If you've been waiting since 2003 for the answer to little sister Dawn's series-ending question ('What are we gonna do now?'), it's finally on its way. Creator Joss Whedon is bringing Buffy: Season 8 adventures only in comic-book form, from Dark Horse Comics.
At the end of season 7 Buffy made every girl who might be a potential vampire slayer into a fully realized slayer with all the remembered history and powers. The comic will be dealing with the ramifications of this when the story picks up several months later.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American cult television series that aired from 10 March 1997 until 20 May 2003. It was created by writer-director Joss Whedon. The series narrative follows Buffy Anne Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness. Like previous slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides and trains her. She surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the 'Scooby Gang.'
"It's an exciting time for comics," said Vince Mancari co-owner of Swin City (pictured above with his sidekicks Steve Causer and Vince Mancari and Ben Fardon). "2007 is really the best time to get into comics. There are so many great titles being released, many attracting new readers."
Issue one of the new series hit Swin City on 8 March, as part of the weekly comics delivery from the US. Swin City Comics stocks a whole range of new released comics and magazines, comics, toys, figures and merchandise shipped in from all over the world each and every week.
Swin City is located at 28 Morley Street, Swindon, SN1 1SG.
