Swindon Health Walks is looking for volunteers to become walk leaders to support and lead current walks and also establish new walks in new areas across the borough.
The Swindon Borough Council-run walking programme is intended to help anyone who would like to increase their current levels of physical activity on a regular basis.
Regular walks result in increased fitness, improved health, provide a sense of well-being and can help maintain mobility, independence and quality of life.
A free one-day course is being held next Tuesday (3 July) at the Link Centre between 10am and 3pm for people to train as volunteer walk leaders.
The course will cover things such as motivating people to walk, how to lead a walk, monitoring safety and components of a health walk.
Walk leaders should be enthusiastic, reasonably active, reliable, punctual and enjoy meeting new people.
