Wessex Male Choir’s annual International Choral Concert on Saturday 6 July at STEAM in Swindon is already looking likely to be a sell-out!
The Choir, which was crowned as best Male Choir after is win at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in 2011, hosts this concert each year and invites top choirs from other countries to join them. This year they welcome The Pontarddulais Male Choir from Wales, and The Colla Voce Youth Choir from South Africa.
The Pontarddulais Male Choir which has a membership of around 100 choristers is internationally renowned, having appeared in many parts of Europe as well as Canada and the United States.
The Colla Voce Youth Choir has 60 choristers aged between 16 and 24 years. The choir has become known nationally for its outstanding standard. It is regarded as one of the top provincial youth choirs in South Africa.
The concert will take place in the impressive Event Hall at Swindon’s STEAM Heritage Centre.
Musical Director, Robert Elliott said, “We are thrilled to have The Pontarddulais Male Choir and The Colla Voce Youth Choir join us for our International Concert. It is the highlight in our calendar and we look forward to returning to STEAM and entertaining audience members new and old after last year’s sell-out event.”
“Wessex Male Choir will be singing some great new songs, including the foot-tapping ‘Kings of Swing’, the convivial ‘This Old Man’, and the emotional ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Misérables”.
