Saturday 26 November, 7.30pm
St. Lawrence Church, Lechlade
The award-winning Wessex Male Choir will be ‘raising the roof’ at a concert in aid of the British Heart Foundation in Lechlade on 26 November.
Proceeds from the concert will go to an Oxford-based research project which will help children with premature heart failure. The project should ultimately help restore heart function enabling the children to lead relatively active lives.
Musical director, Robert Elliott said, ‘Supporting local charities is hugely important to the choir and we look forward to helping the British Heart Foundation by singing at the concert in Lechlade.
‘This has been a very special year for Wessex as we celebrate our 10th anniversary and, as a number of our choristers come from Lechlade and the surrounding villages, it will be great to perform to an audience close to home.’
The concert starts at 7.30pm and is being held at St. Lawrence Church, Lechlade.
Wessex will be joined by two school groups. 30 pupils from St. Lawrence Primary School’s band and choir will perform, as will the 30-strong choir from Farmors Secondary School in Fairford.
Tickets are £10 which includes a glass of mulled wine or a soft drink and are available from Lechlade Newsagents or by calling 01367 253762 or 253319.
The Wiltshire-based choir was crowned ‘Male Voice Choir’ champions at the prestigious International Music Eisteddfod in Llangollen in June. This is a fantastic achievement for the choir and it saw off competition from choirs from around the world to take the highly-acclaimed title.
Wessex Male Choir was formed in 2001 and has grown to over 60 members and performing throughout the year all over the UK. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings between 7:30 – 9:30pm in Abbey Meads, Swindon.
