On 17 May a team of friends from West Swindon took on and won an 80 mile London to Swindon relay in aid of a Swindon based charity.
Run4Home is a fund raising event in support of The Threshold Housing Link, Swindon’s main agency for emergency support for homeless people in Swindon.
The annual event, which has taken place since 2000, commemorates the 3 day journey undertaken by Andrew, a homeless man from Swindon, who walked back from London to Swindon, via the Thames Pathway and The Ridgeway, in order to secure help and a roof over his head at Threshold’s hostel – Culvery Court.
After 9 hours of running and cycling and despite one of the team having a ‘sat-nav’ failure and getting lost, Tezza’s All Stars came from behind to snatch a dramatic victory over last year’s winners, Thatcher’s Golden Oldies from Broome Manor, by the tiny margin of just 2 mins 11 seconds!
If you would like to know more about Threshold’s work and read Andrew’s Story, please go to www.thl.org.uk, where you can make a donation in support of this and their other charity events.
