The Wroughton based clinic began life as a chiropractic practice opened by Dr Mark Blokland in 1995. Over the last five years, together with business partner Dr Simon Clarke, they drew up plans to develop a multi-disciplinary health and wellness centre which now offers counselling, psychology, beauty, massage and reflexology.
In mid-March a brand new holistic dental practice opened. Within luxurious surroundings the state of the art practice offers no syringe anaesthetics and painless laser cavity detection. A new air abrasion system means that in most cases, there is no need to use a drill.
There is a beauty salon within the dental practice area, allowing patients to combine a check up with a relaxing facial or massage.
“I wanted to refer patients to dentists in the area but couldn’t find one that worked with a similar ethos, so we decided to open our own practice,” said Dr Blokland.
“Our holistic approach isn’t simply a new-age fad. It’s about looking at our patients’ overall health and treating the body as a whole, rather than isolated parts. We see a significant number of patients who experience neck and back pain due to issues with the mouth and jaw, and problems in this area can affect the rest of your health, your body posture and even your feet.”
