Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has launched a Corporate Green Awards scheme to reward businesses in Wiltshire and Swindon for taking significant steps towards going green.
The winners will be announced on Friday 17 October at a gala dinner hosted by BBC’s Tomorrow’s World personality Judith Hann, at the luxury Four Pillars Cotswold Water Park Hotel.
These prestigious awards will recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice in Wiltshire and Swindon business
“We know companies care about the environment and its threats from pollution, development and climate change – and we know that many are taking steps to make a positive difference,” says Iain Boyd, the Trust’s corporate relations officer.
“But some of the fantastic work companies do in terms of best practice and sustainable development goes unnoticed. We want to celebrate these achievements and reward companies that are taking action to make Wiltshire and Swindon a greener county.“
Judith Hann says: “Fortunately we realise the importance of protecting the environment more than ever these days, so it gives me great pleasure to be involved in this ambitious scheme to encourage initiatives in Wiltshire.”
Entry is open to all companies and organisations, whether national or local, who have an operational base in Wiltshire and Swindon.
“I would like to encourage companies of any size, large or small, to be part of this new venture. Entries are free of charge so, whether you have only recently introduced environmental actions or you’re an ‘old hand’, enter your company today,” he adds.
There are four categories:
• Environmental Impact Award – for the organisation making the greatest positive impact on the environment
• Environmental Action Award – for an organisation achieving a fundamental change in people’s behaviours, values or actions
• Green Shoots Award – for the organisation who is the most impressive newcomer to implementing environmental actions
• Outstanding Contribution Award – for the person or organisation who has made the greatest positive impact on the environment
“Companies can make as many entries as they wish. They can enter a single project for more than one award category, or the same award category with more than one project,” says Iain. “And you can nominate either yourself or someone else for the awards.”
