Swindon & District Bonsai Society ‘Winter Image’ Bonsai Show – Sunday 20 February, 10.30am – 4.30pm
NEW VENUE: Stratton Community Centre, Grange Drive, Stratton St Margaret, Swindon, SN3 4JY
The number of people attending this event has steadily grown and this year’s show is at even larger premises. Last year there were over 300 people at the show.
This year’s show will be bigger than ever with people attending from all over the UK and it is a good opportunity for people living locally to view trees that have been regularly displayed at the ‘Chelsea Flower Show’ as well as large gardening events throughout the UK and Europe.
It is one of the few shows in the UK that is held during the Winter Months. The trees take on a different image without their leaves. Although the general gardener doesn’t understand the ‘Art of Bonsai’, most enjoy seeing the hard work that is put into the presentation of the trees.
As well as trees from the Swindon club there are exhibits from the following clubs: Phoenix Bonsai, Red Dragon Bonsai from the Swansea area, Newbury Bonsai, Eastleigh and Southampton Bonsai, The Association of British Bonsai Artists and several more. The ‘Shohin Society’ [Very, Very small trees, some only a few inches tall] will be traveling from the North of England just to display at our show.
This year’s show will have several new clubs exhibiting, these include Warminster, The Wirral and the Ashfield club from Derby.
