Let your imagination roam and submit an original unpublished story that you can read aloud in 5 minutes for a competition run by Swindon Speakers Club as part of the Swindon Festival of Literature. A bubbly-filled trophy is on offer to the winner.
All stories will be read by a short-listing panel and be whittled down to six favourites with the entrants invited to the competition final on Tuesday 10 May, 8pm, at Swindon Arts Centre, Devizes Road.
On the night, the six finalists will be called on stage to read or tell their story – they will have no more than 5 minutes each to recount their tale. Kindly judges from Swindon Speakers Club and Swindon Festival of Literature guest authors David Constantine and Stuart Evers will be looking for content and effective delivery in order to choose three winners.
An exciting, fascinating evening of new short stories is promised, as well as an ‘entertainment’ while the judges deliberate.
Tickets at £5 (£4) for the evening are available from The Arts Centre Devizes Road on 01793 614837.
