Friends and patrons of the Wyvern Theatre have been the very first to see the amazing visual effects which will turn the Wyvern Theatre into a 3D cavern of riches this Christmas!
On Monday 23 June the star of this year’s pantomime, Aladdin made his first visit to the Wyvern Theatre. Shaun Williamson, known to millions for his role as Barry in EastEnders and in Ricky Gervais’ award-winning Extras, will lead the cast of this year’s spectacular Wyvern pantomime as the wonderfully wicked Abanazar. Shaun made his West End debut in Saturday Night Fever playing Monty The DJ, and played the role again on a number one nationwide tour. More recently he has appeared on tour playing the narrator in The Rocky Horror Show, starred in a sell-out run at the Marlowe Theatre Canterbury in Aladdin and played the lead role in the national tour of Guys and Dolls.
Shaun introduced a very special co-star to the Wyvern stage – Swindon’s first ever 3D Genie! With the help of some amazing 3D effects and a pair of state-of-the-art glasses the audience saw the Genie come to life and move around the auditorium, and had the chance to rub the magic lamp as it floated right in front of their eyes.
Andy Hill, Director of the Wyvern Theatre said, “It is amazing to have such a top-notch show for Christmas here at the theatre. I do believe this is testament to the quality approach the Wyvern offers, that this year’s pantomime will be bigger then ever and take us into a whole new dimension.”
Aladdin is presented by Qdos Pantomimes, the largest pantomime producer in the world. Qdos Pantomimes will be working with Daryl Back (Jack and the Beanstalk, Peter Pan, Cinderella at the Wyvern) on this fabulous festive production.
