Young offenders in the town have been turning the talents to creating unique art works on canvas in aid of a charity dedicated to helping Swindon’s young carers.
Working over 5 days during half term, nine young offenders created six original works of art under the direction of a local artist.
Kevin Leaning of the Youth Offending Team based in Stratton St Margaret said: “Young Carers are children and young people, up to the age of 18, whose lives are affected by looking after someone. This might be a parent, brother, sister or other family member.
"Our young offenders are keen to see how much money will be raised at the charity auction coming up in March.”
The Youth Offending Team ensures that young people face up to the impact of their behaviour on the local community. Making art work can be a part of this process, and these young offenders have been given an opportunity to learn about the difficulties encountered by young people having to look after other family members.
