The Commonweal School is delighted to once again be hosting the Youth Piano Festival on Tuesday 17 April 2012 at 7pm which will be held at the Swindon Arts Centre on Devizes Road in Old Town, Swindon.
This concert will be a wonderful opportunity for students representing Swindon schools and colleges to perform and share in the sheer joy that is the varied piano repertoire.
This new and exciting event is devised and organised by Josie Williams, Community Arts Development Officer and Aniela Zylinski, Music Teacher at The Commonweal Performing Arts Academy and will feature a broad range of styles from classical to modern.
“We are also very excited to announce that Paul Turner, the local renowned pianist, will be holding a masterclass/talk at the venue, from 5.30-6.30, for the students performing in the concert. The concert will then conclude with a performance from Paul himself. It will be wonderfully inspiring for the students to experience professional piano playing at this level, and is set to be a fantastic highlight of the Commonweal school calendar,” said Aniela.
“The event is open to all young people in the borough and will be a wonderful opportunity for them to share their talents. As a performing arts academy we are keen to encourage the youth of the town, Swindon has got a lot of talent. Parents can also nominate their children,”said Josie.
