Whether you’re into Zumba or you’ve always wanted to have a go – but have never quite made it to a class – here’s the chance to find out, have a lot of fun and raise money for Prospect Hospice.
Zumba instructor Claudia Albornoz, from Haydon End, is looking for up to 100 participants to take part in Zumbathon at Commonweal School, Old Town on Saturday 16 March, between 2pm and 5pm, with all sponsorship raised above the £5 registration going directly to the Wroughton-based Hospice.
Chilean born Claudia, who gives her Zumba classes real Latin American flair, said: “We would love people of all levels to come along, including people who have never done Zumba before. It’s a three-hour session, so people can do as much or as little as they wish, or even take a break during the three hours. I hope people will enjoy themselves, maybe discover a great new way to get fit, and raise much-needed funds for Prospect Hospice.”
The Zumbathon has been inspired by the support Claudia’s friend Sam Staff received in her final days at the hospice. She said: “Sam used to come to my salsa fitness classes – she was such a sweet lady, and I have very good memories of her.
Everyone who registers for the event will be sent a sponsorship form, because I believe passionately in the importance of fundraising for Prospect Hospice. It’s a local charity that needs constant support from the community, and I know this from having friends who have been cared for there over the years in which I have lived in Swindon.
The event is at Commonweal School’s gym, and Claudia hopes that it will be filled to its 100-person capacity.
