Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service report that an elderly woman lost her life on 13 May, at 6.59am, following a fire at Abbeywood Caravan Park, Green Road, Meadowcroft, Swindon.
Two crews from Stratton and one from Swindon were mobilised, and two breathing apparatus wearers used a hose reel jet and a main jet to tackle the blaze. Firefighters rescued the woman from her home and attempted resuscitation, but she was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service.
The fire is not believed to be suspicious, but the exact cause remains under investigation – a file will be sent to the Wiltshire Coroner in due course.
The identity of the woman will be released by Wiltshire Police once next of kin have been informed.
