Wednesday 27 May is ATBShop Skate Warehouse’s BIG Charity day to raise money for the Prospect Hospice in Swindon.
The charity has been chosen charity once again because sadly, ATBShop and Swindon Street Games have recently lost a fantastic lady called Becky Rowland, to cancer.
Becky was a major contributor to youth services in and around Swindon working for Street Games Swindon, organising lots of free events for young people aged 14 to 25.
One of her work colleagues, Charlie Paradise, has taken it upon herself to raise £1,500 for the Prospect Hospice who provided Becky with the best end of life care anyone could have hoped for.
To show appreciation and to celebrate Becky’s life, the team at the ATBShop Skate Warehouse is open from 10am until 6pm on 27 May.
The day will kick off with a fun Kids Club for children aged 10 years and under between 10am and 12pm. During this session the children will be able to take part in fun competitions, party games and even have their faces painted.
Half the session entry will be going to the Prospect Hospice, along with all the money raised from selling cakes as there will be a massive bake sale as well! If that’s not enough, then the mum’s can also make a donation and grab themselves a mini manicure while the kids ride in the park, thanks to Kymmie at EpicNails.co.uk
After that, two mixed sessions suitable for scooters, skateboards and inline skaters will run from 12pm to 3pm and then 3pm to 6pm. Once again, half the money from each session will be going to the Prospect Hospice plus there will be more competitions and games. During the first session there will also be a BBQ with proceeds again going to the Prospect.
Diana Kirk at ATBShop said: “The Prospect Hospice is a great charity to support as they do so much for end of life patients, from all walks of life. It’s very sad but it does seem that almost everyone in Swindon has had some kind of connection with the Prospect Hospice over the years. ATBShop has sadly lost several friends recently to cancer and the Prospect Hospice has provided them all with the best care imaginable.”
“This Wednesday is going to be really fun event and if people would like to support us they can do a whole range of things from baking cakes for us to sell to simply turning up to ride!”
