‘Lets Look After’ is a new initiative led by the Pipers Area Residents Association to build on the great support for PaRa’s 4 Spring Cleans and Autumn Tidy events during 2013 and 2014.
On 17th May, people living and working in Old Town can get together to give Old Town TLC , tidying up flowerbeds and litter picking.
Help is welcomed from 2 – 4pm. Please bring trowels or hand forks along with gardening gloves if possible.
“Since our first Spring Clean in 2013 , there has been a very positive response so we have expanded our next event,” explained PaRa committee member Carole Bent. “In addition to involving local residents, members of Old Town businesses and council on the 17th, we have included community group Incredible Edible, Croft school, playgroup and Croft sports centre on a longer term project, helping to inspire children about the benefits of looking after our local area.”
By introducing Incredible Edible to the Croft playgroup and school , fruit and vegetables will be planted at both locations. Some members of the PaRa committee will take part along with staff, parents and the children, widening the benefits of spring cleaning and planting.
The PaRa led events have all worked well and along with seeing litter cleared , flowerbeds and a planter full of flowers , its great to see the trees and 100 of bulbs from earlier events growing on the embankments over the past couple of years.
To take part meet on the corner of Newport Street and Devizes Road on Sunday 17 May, 2pm to 4pm
