The famous Swindon Duck Race took place again on Bank Holiday, Monday 25 May, on the field opposite The Runner on Wootton Bassett Road.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Swindon Old Town since 2001, the event has raised over £200,000 to date. The 2015 event looks as if it will a record breaker with hundreds of people lining the banks of the River Ray to cheer 11,500 numbered plastic ducks over the 300 metre course.
With continuing sponsorship from Nationwide and McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, this year’s chosen charity the Swindon MS Therapy Centre will receive a minimum of 50 per cent of the funds raised on the day, with the remainder donated to other Rotary charities including CALM, Restore and Chernobyl Children in Need.
Winning ticket 1671 won the top prize of £1,000 with another 6 tickets winning £100 each. The Drakes Race for some 30 business entrants was won by Flow Form of Swindon.
