Swindon residents and workplaces are invited to take part in the 2015 Active Swindon Challenge, which runs from May to November.
The initiative – that rewards prizes top people logging journeys on foot, bike or public transport – builds on the success of previous years, encouraging more people to travel sustainably in Swindon.
The Active Swindon Challenge is running a series of monthly mini-competitions until 31 August.
The Challenge is open to individuals, groups, teams, workplaces or families of all ages and abilities, and it’s free and easy to take part.
Simply sign up at www.activeswindonchallenge.org.uk and start logging journeys ready for May’s first competitionto. Prizes will be awarded as spot prizes and monthly team prizes, and include a Fairtrade food hamper, cinema vouchers and t-shirts. There will also be an overall prize draw to win an iPad, to be drawn at the end of the challenge in November.
The healthy competitive spirit between teams always makes for a fun and exciting challenge, and this year should be no exception. There are already over 1,000 participants signed-up to compete, and competition between professional rivals could mean that this year’s Challenge sees a record number of trips recorded. In 2014, over 260,000 miles were logged during the Challenge across 37,000 trips.
An Active Swindon Challenge app will be available shortly to make it easier to log journeys on the move!
