The Savernake Sizzler Cycling Challenge is back this July, supporting, in its third outing the Swindon based charity, CALM
A fun but demanding cycling event held on Sunday 26th July, near Marlborough. Organised by GiveItSome, a new project being developed by local father and daughter team, Paul Greenman (52) and Penny Pauw (29).
With distances to suit all abilities, from 32 right up to 110 miles, through some of Wiltshire’s most stunning landscapes. The routes promise a fantastic mix of challenging hills, winding lanes and straight, fast sections. You’ll need determination, whichever distance you challenge yourself with. Just don’t forget to take a moment to take in a deep breath of fresh Wiltshire air and soak in the scenery and wildlife our home has to offer. What better way to rediscover the delights of Wiltshire than on your bike? Entries are from as little as £10 each, with all the facilities you’d expect from a larger cycling sportive, combined with the friendly atmosphere of a smaller local event.
Organiser and local cycling and running enthusiast Paul Greenman states “Savernake Sizzler isn’t just a challenge mentally and physically, it’s an exploration, a social event and a great opportunity to raise money for charity”.
GiveItSome are encouraging cyclists to raise funds for their sponsored charity CALM, a volunteer run local charity, who help families of children receiving cancer and leukaemia treatment at Swindon’s Great Western Hospital. GiveItSome are offering to cover the cost of entry for any rider who raises £100 or more and there’s a prize draw for fundraisers too. Proceeds from the home-baked goodies stand and tea and coffee donations will be going to CALM providing a perfect end to a hard cycle.
Cycling events are a great way to get you motivated to get out on your bike. The personal achievement you get from completing a challenge like this stays with you forever. So visit www.giveitsome.me to find out more and get on your bike!
There are still sponsorship opportunities available for local companies who would like to get involved. There are also opportunities on the day for relevant promotional stands offering free samples or services to riders.
