Local businesses and Swindon Town fans have helped Jay Collett reach the magic £6,000 target needed to put on a pre-match display at Wembley within 40 hours, writes Sam Morshead of TotalSwindonSport.com
Collett, who was responsible for the ticker tape parades prior to both legs of the League One semi-final against Sheffield United, has received a remarkable response from supporters of the Robins after appealing for benefactors on Tuesday morning.
Town’s headline sponsor, Imagine Cruising, has invested a significant amount in the display, while a whole host of Wiltshire companies have chipped in too. They include: Barnes Coaches, SAS Travel, Verelogic, Hills Group, Swindon Link, Total Sport Swindon, Swindon Advertiser, Beesley’s Tools and Therapy Plus.
A number of individual contributions from fans have also been taken over the past day and a half, with the total sum raised standing at £6,685 at present.
Collett told Total Sport: “It’s been an amazing response. To reach our target in such a short space of time is incredible. I’m very thankful to all the companies and fans who have donated and hopefully we can put a display worthy of their generosity.”
