A new Busking Competition, with a £500 cash first prize, is set to commence at the popular Farmers’ Market held at the Swindon Designer Outlet every Sunday.
The Swindon farmers market busking competition is open to any street performers, from individual players and singers to bands, circus acts, choirs and dancers.
Performers will be judged on a point scoring basis by stallholders at the market and by the customers/audience. The top scoring acts will be invited back to play in the finals during in November and the three top acts will be invited back to play at the pre- Christmas farmers’ market on 20 December where prizes will be awarded. A £500 cash first prize and £50 cash for the two runners up.
“Nothing enhances a market like some decent music or street performance and the Sunday market’s pedestrianised location is perfect for buskers,” said market organiser Kardien Gerbrands. “The market has a very good footfall so a lot of people will get the chance to see the performers, who will be able to collect money, sell cd’s and promote their act as they would normally when busking.”
Performers wishing to enter should contact the market organisers, Fresh-N-Local, to book their date by emailing email@example.com or call 01453 758060.
Further details and terms and conditions are available on the Swindon farmers market web page at www.fresh-n-local.co.uk. Premium busking time is between 11am and 3pm at the market so on application performers will be offered a selection of dates on which to appear.
