Car enthusiasts will be revved up by a special festival at Lydiard Park this weekend.
More than 100 classic, vintage and super cars will be on display in front of Lydiard House between 11am and 6pm as part of the Swindon Borough Council-owned park’s Auto and Retro Festival, which has been organised in conjunction with RMJ Top Events.
Among the cars on display will be a Marcos Mantula, pictured, a Jaguar E Type, a Porsche 911 and a Triumph Spitfire. The collection of cars will also feature a number of MGs and Volkswagens.
As well as old classics, a range of modern cars from Swindon dealerships will also be on display including Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Seat, Mazda and Volvo.
Music will be on the agenda throughout the day with Swingout Swindon performing in both the morning and afternoon, while they will also be offering a taster Lindy Hop dance class in the marquee.
Four piece traditional jazz band, Acoustic Jass will add further musical entertainment and there will be plenty of food available as well as a Pimms and champagne bar.
In keeping with the vintage theme, traders will be selling vintage toys and retro household items, while there will be hair braiding, face painting and vintage clothing on offer.
Cllr Garry Perkins, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for Lydiard Park, said: “If you love cars then Lydiard really is the place to be on Saturday because our Auto and Retro Festival will have some stunning examples on display.
“We have really expanded the festival this year and we have cars from almost every era as well as a Retro focus which we hope will bring lots of fun for all the family.”
Kat Dixon, Events Assistant at Lydiard Park, said “Even if cars aren’t your thing there’s plenty going on to entertain with the retro hair salon, clothing stands and live performances from Swindon Swingout and Acoustic Jass.
“The food on offer is incredible and all tying in with a vintage theme. It promises to be a really lovely event and I can’t wait to see people enjoying it.”
Tickets for the festival can be bought on the gate or in advance by visiting: www.swindontickets.co.uk and are priced at £8 for adults (includes free entry for one child), £4 for children aged between 3 and 16. Children under 3 go free.
