The Mayor of Swindon joined local retirees on 22 July to mark the opening of the brand new show complex at McCarthy and Stone’s Blunsdon Court development.
Councillor Andrew Bennett performed the ceremonial ribbon cutting at the development on Lady Lane, while guests took advantage of the first opportunity to take a tour of the fully furnished show apartments while enjoying a complimentary glass of bubbly.
Councillor Andrew Bennett said: “It was a pleasure to mark the show complex opening at Blunsdon Court and it’s exciting to think that over the coming weeks more and more over 60s will be joining this already thriving community.
“Living independently and securely is incredibly important at any age, and developments like this one in Swindon will enable those that live there to really make the most of their retirement years.”
Blunsdon Court, which is exclusively for the over 60s, marks McCarthy and Stone’s return to Swindon for the first time in almost ten years. Ideally situated within easy reach of a host of local amenities, the development presents an exclusive collection of 24 one and two bedroom apartments, and meets the significant demand for retirement housing in the local area.
Jacqui Meenan, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, commented: “Our aim is to help older people stay independent for longer and really make the most of their retirement. We’re delighted that Blunsdon Court has already proved so popular. The development has not surprisingly attracted significant interest from local purchasers looking to downsize, but also from people coming from further afield.
“We’re very thankful to Councillor Andrew Bennett for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit our new development. We’re honoured that he was there to mark the opening of our stunning show apartments which highlight the modern designs and beautiful surroundings of Blunsdon Court. We’re urging anyone interest in securing one of these apartments for themselves to come along to our brand new show complex and take a look around, or get in touch without delay.”
Since launch and following two successful opening days, Blunsdon Court has experienced unprecedented demand for its one and two bedroom apartments, with almost half (46%) already reserved. With the fully furnished show apartments now open, it is expected that this demand will continue to increase.
McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living developments are designed to offer homeowners the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when they want it and privacy when they need it.
Facilities at Blunsdon Court include a homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends, a beautifully landscaped internal courtyard in which to relax and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. The development also benefits from its very own House Manager, who will ensure the smooth running of the development, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points for added peace of mind for both homeowners and their families.
