To inspire young performers taking part in this year’s Wyvern Theatre Summer Youth Project, West End star Chloe Hart will visit Swindon to answer questions and give advice to the budding young performers ahead of their production of the hit musical Hairspray.
Chloe, who is currently in rehearsals for the West End production of Cyndi Lauper’s Kinky Boots, landed her first professional role as leading lady Tracy Turnblad in the 2009 hit West End production of Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
The visit is being made possible by the Wyvern Theatre Foundation, a charitable organisation that helps local young people to become more involved with performing arts. The Foundation are proud supporters of the Summer Youth Project, providing bursary places to many young people who otherwise might not have been able to take part.
Around 180 aspiring young performers and technicians will work alongside a highly skilled creative team for the next two weeks, culminating in five performances of a full-scale musical. Applications for next year’s Summer Youth Project will open after Christmas, with youngsters encouraged to come along to a performance of Hairspray for a taste of what they can expect next year.
Hairspray runs at the Wyvern Theatre from Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd August. Book tickets today at swindontheatres.co.uk or by calling the Ticket Office on 01793 524 481.
