A group of Swindon based qualified driving instructors aiming to raise the standard of driving on our roads are launching an exciting venture aimed at under 17 years pre-provisional driving licence holders on Sunday 27 September.
Swindon Young Drivers, will give the opportunity to young people aged 14-17 to experience the thrill of driving a car, whilst at the same time being educated in all aspects of road safety in a relaxed and stimulating way.
With endorsement from Swindon Borough Council, the AA and North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinso, through a combination of one-to-one driving sessions and demonstrations using simulators and training aids, Swindon Young Drivers will to be able to steer the next generation of Swindon’s road users in the right direction prior to them being able to legally drive on public roads.
Chairperson of Swindon Young Drivers, Jo Silvester, said: “We believe that we are all responsible for road safety. We hope that by installing good habits into young drivers at an early age, and actively discouraging bad habits we can achieve our target, Safer Roads for everybody.
“Our long term aim is to be able to offer this opportunity to even younger children, learning to drive in a safe, off road, environment and learning valuable life skills which will hopefully stay with them for the rest of their life”
Swindon Young Drivers first session will be on Sunday 27th September at Swindon’s New College. The Mayor of Swindon at 11am to meet youngsters behind the wheel.
All sessions will be in modern, dual controlled cars, under the supervision of fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors
