Emma-Jayne Dyer is organising a walk starting at 10am from The Pavillion, Pipers Way (opposite Nationwide) on Saturday 12 September. She writes:
I am calling on residents of Swindon to walk two and a half miles for a world without dementia as part of the Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest annual fundraising event.
There is also a shorter 1 mile option. Everyone is welcome – friends, families, children, and also dogs. Please bring a water bottle/refreshments.
All participants should ensure they wear good walking footwear for gravel / grass / woodland tracks and trails, bring a suitable coat / waterproof jacket in case of typical British weather.
The target is to get 200 people to take part in the walk and I hope to encourage each person to raise £50 if walking. This means we can raise £10,000 from Swindon’s first Memory Walk. I also need helpers on the day so please volunteer your services if you want to help but not walk.
