Saturday 18 July will see 1997 World Snooker Champion, Ken Doherty, and game favourite and funny man, John Virgo, hit the baize at Swindon’s 147 Snooker Club for a night of laughs, trick shots, jokes and snooker brilliance.
Whilst Virgo entertains the crowd with his witty banter and commentates on the games, Doherty will be playing a selection of players as part of the exhibition which has been organised to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House in Bristol and the Nepal Earthquake Appeal for Children.
The event has received a great response from local businesses that are keen to do what they can for charity.
Event organiser Karl Paul said “the support that has been shown by local businesses really is fantastic, the Ronald McDonald House in Bristol is a cause that is close the hearts of my family and friends and the Nepal Earthquake Appeal is something that needs as much support as possible.
“To be able to do what we can for both of these causes and help make a difference just makes sense. As well as that the night will be fun for all involved”.
Communications and IT Specialists, excalibur have jumped on board as main sponsor for the event and CEO, James Phipps has even been roped in to taking on Doherty on the night.
Phipps said “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to play such a legend of the game, really looking forward to it, should be a great night’s entertainment.
“It’s also for great causes and nice to be involved”.
Karl Paul went on to say “I’d like to say a big thank you to all involved in the event, especially the sponsors who have been very generous in their giving and assisting us to achieve our objective, supporting these two great causes. It’s great to have excalibur supporting the event and I’ve had a word with Ken to take it easy on James on the night…
“I’d also like to thank Cherry Designs who as well as making a financial contribution to the event have also prepared all the artwork for us”.
