Do you have a good idea for Swindon and are seeking funds or support from others? Are you interested in social enterprise and community improvement?
If so, then Swindon Soup is right up your street and will be holding its first event on Thursday 3 December.
The new event has been put together by Positive Media Group and Excalibur Communications to support community activities, projects and innovative ideas.
All you have to do is come along and make a suggested donation of £5, hear up to four pre-selected groups or individuals pitch their ideas on how they will make their locality a better place. Then enjoy a potluck dinner and a little local entertainment during which you get to chat with other soupers and decide which scheme you’d like to support.
Whether you are a local resident or community organisation,it’ a perfect opportunity to have your voice heard, support others and make a difference.
Soup was founded in Detroit in 2010, with the mission to promote community based development through crowd funding, creativity, collaboration, democracy and fun. So far more than $85,000 has been raised.
During dinner everyone gets to vote for the scheme they love the most and at the end, all the door money and any donations on the night is given to kickstart that project.
The first ever Swindon Soup takes place on Thursday 3 December, 6pm to 8.30pm, hosted by Excalibur Communications at Arclite House in West Swindon.
