Earlier in the summer a range of Lindt desserts were on offer with a donation being made to the fundraising efforts of Shaun Jones who will be going out to Lesotho later this year to take part in the annual Kick4Life Allstars Tour.
During the tour the Allstars will be delivering the charity’s health education and life skills curriculum to school children and young people which includes key messages on topics such as HIV prevention and equality.
Shaun Jones, who has already been to Lesotho a number of times with Kick4Life wanted to thank Rafi Zaidi of Kaspa’s, Lindt and most importantly the customers who bought the new range of desserts. He said: “If it wasn’t for the generosity of Daryl and Katie at the Lindt store, and also the willingness of Rafi to try something new in the restaurant, this money would not have been raised. It allowed Swindon diners to try something not available in any other Kaspa’s but more importantly it raised enough to test 20 young children for HIV and to offer counselling should this be needed.”
The Lindt desserts are now off the menu but due to the popularity Swindon could see this exclusive range introduced again. Rafi said: “We are in discussions with Lindt at the moment about offering the range on a more permanent basis, watch this space.”
With just a few weeks to go before the Allstars tour Shaun is currently just over 50 per cent towards his fundraising total. If you would like to help him hit his target you can text: KICK78 £2 to 70070 or visit: www.justgiving.com/k4lsouthwest
Shaun also wants to thank Casbah in John Street for a collection they made in the summer for the charity. He said: “It’s nice of local companies to get involved in my fundraising efforts and big thanks to Michelle and Laura from Casbah for holding the collection which has helped towards my target.”
