It’s just six months since Catherine Mayer and Sandi Toksvig had the idea for a Women’s Equality Party to transform the life chances of women in Britain and so build a better society for all.
Women are still widely unrepresented in Parliament, top businesses and the media. WEP aims to tackle issues of women’s equality in various ways from all female MP shortlists, the gender pay gaps to more flexible parental leave. Inequality hurts all of society.
WEP is a non partisan party – you can join us as an affiliate member, even if you are a paid up member of another party. There is still time to become a founding member of WEP – how many will be able to say they were founding members of a political party? Click here for details
A big national launch takes place on Tuesday where where the policy agenda and campaign plans – shaped by members and supporters who have contributed through local events, and online – will be unveiled.
In Swindon the launch event takes place on Tuesday 20 October, 8pm, at Even Swindon Community Centre, Jennings Street SN2 2BD. All are invited to attend.
Branch secretary Erika Garratt said: “Come and meet us to find out who WE are and what WE are about. WE Swindon are looking for new members (and yes, men can join too) to join with us to make a difference to women’s equality locally as well as nationally.
“WE will be showing the video of the London launch and there will be the opportunity to talk about our policies (as well as cake and tea).”
