Wharf Green will be filled with an audience of thousands on the day of the Christmas Light Switch On – Thursday 19 November and will feature some incredible performances from some fantastic acts across music and family entertainment.
Throughout the day, visitors will have a very special opportunity to step inside Swindon’s very own giant Snow Globe at The Parade (outside Debenhams), where they’ll be enveloped in winter snowfall, before taking away a FREE photo of the magical experience. The Snow globe will run daily from 19-22 November.
The Parade is also inviting local children along from 3pm to design and create their own Santa hats to wear for the light switch on.
A talented line-up of local performers will be out in force from 4pm, beginning with a Children’s Character Parade starting at Regent Circus.
The Brunel Shopping Centre are hosting Santa’s Grotto again this year and you won’t want to miss the sights and sounds of a very special 8ft tall guest, upstairs in the Brunel Plaza at 4pm & 5:30pm. TITAN the ROBOT certainly won’t be missed amongst the crowds. Bring your cameras, as this cheeky chappie is more than meets the eye.
Live pop-up performances will be seen at various locations from our very own Charlie-Ann Bradfield, Josie & the Outlaws, Gilmore n’ Jaz and Jenny Bracey, whilst Swindon Young Musician’s treat us to a very special performance from 5pm at Regent Circus.
A visit from Mr & Mrs Claus on Stilts and their Elves guarantees mischief, the well-known Town Crier will once again welcome in the festive season and the Heart Angels will be giving out Glo-sticks, courtesy of inSwindon from 2pm. Keep hold of these, as you may well need them during the show!

The light switch on finale will see the sky illuminated with the most spectacular festive firework display the town centre has ever seen.
inSwindon BID Manager, Di Powell said: “We just can’t wait for the christmas season to begin. And when the light switch on happens and the fireworks begin, something magical happens to Swindon.”
She added, “Our show is brimming with activity this year, but it’s only the start of more of festive celebrations across the town. There’s no need for tickets, it’s free. Simply wrap up warm, grab your family and friends and get ready to have some fun.
