Over 150 Year 11 students from Highworth Warneford School in Swindon got a taste of university life on Thursday, 5 November, thanks to a series of careers workshops hosted at the school.
During the interactive workshops, students were offered advice and guidance on the different types of higher education courses available, university fees and finance, the application process, and the importance of choosing their A Level or equivalent courses with university in mind.
The session was facilitated by Jon Cheek from UniTasterDays Ltd.
UniTasterDays deliver motivational university talks for schools throughout the UK, as well as providing students and teachers with information about higher education institutions and events through its website, UniTasterDays.com.
Jon Cheek said: “This was the sixth time I have visited the school. The students are always a delight to work with and it is great to be involved so early in their decision making process.
“By delivering sessions like these, we hope to help motivate and encourage students to plan early so they are more able to make informed decisions about their education in the future. This may be about which university to attend, or perhaps at an earlier stage, by selecting subjects at key stage 5 which will facilitate further university level study.”
