Swindon based Excalibur Communications has stepped forward to give vital work experience to a local scholar from the Villiers Park Educational Trust.
Cheelsea Pereira, a Year 11 student, who ultimately hopes to study Computer Science at university, will spend a week with Swindon-based Excalibur, whose industry-leading managed services include IT and mobile phones.
Cheelsea said: “I am honoured and grateful to have been selected and I am really excited that my sponsor is Excalibur because it is an opportunity which will open doors for me in the career I am interested in.”
Carly Deacon, Head of HR at Excalibur, said: “Villiers Park Educational Trust does great work in helping young people develop a passion for learning, so we are very pleased that we can provide the environment where important work and life skills can be gained”.
Cheelsea appealed to other Swindon organisations so that her scholar peers can also benefit from sponsorship opportunities.
Cheelsea said: “Organisations should definitely consider sponsoring scholars because not only is it beneficial for us as scholars but also to the organisation itself. In the competitive world of work, it is important that we have everything we can to help us get a job in our preferred career. Sponsoring a scholar helps the organisation become well known.
“As teenagers we always like to talk to one another so if a scholar is sponsored by an organisation then they are most likely to tell everyone they know all about the organisation. Also, the organisation will leave a long lasting impression on the scholar and they could possibly come back to work for them in the future.”
