As part of the continued investment in the town’s largest leisure centre GLL, under their Better brand, will launch the Better Extreme indoor trampoline park on 1 February.
The facility was originally meant to open in late 2015 but delivery delays of equipment from the USA pushed the date back.
The Better Extreme park will be a series of interconnected safety padded trampolines and foam pits in the centre’s sports hall. Up to 100 people at a time will be able to bounce at the same time.
The project is part of a £2million investment in the centre and will include newly created, dedicated birthday party rooms and a large refurbished café in The Mall which has been given a makeover with new flooring and colour scheme – pictured below. From The Mall visitors will be able to watch trampoline activity from a new viewing gallery.
A relatively new concept in the UK, the trampoline park will be accessible to all sectors of the community offering group events, sports training and children’s party bookings.
Paul Shearman, partnership manager for Better, said: “The trampoline park will be one of the very first of its kind to launch in the UK. It will be open to everyone regardless of fitness levels, age or experience, with fully trained coaches on hand to provide expert help and advice.
“We’ve had to have a big rethink about how Link Centre works to make it sustainable for the future, yet still accessible to all sections of the community. This is reflected by our pricing structure.”
There will be freestyle coaching sessions as well as corporate events where people can play dodgeball and basketball on the nets.
Jamie Ross, Better’s national Extreme manager, said: “We’ve just opened one up in Dagenham and it’s been fantastic.
“This is a way that people of all ages can keep fit whilst at the same time having fun. It’s so multi-purpose as well and the benefits are huge. There will be special toddler sessions and safety is obviously paramount in everything that we do.
“Every person that comes in for an hourly session will have to watch a three minute safety video and we will have staff on hand at all times to make sure people are making the most of it.”
Swindon Link will be running a competition to win the chance to be one of the first to use the new trampoline attraction. With easy access from all points around Swindon, free parking and the shopping attractions at the West Swindon District Centre next door to Link Centre, the trampoline park is sure to be a hit from the off.
