Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an attempted theft in Swindon.
At approximately 5.15pm on 8 February 2016, a 17-year-old girl was walking in Fleming Way, opposite Jury’s Inn, when she was approached from behind by a man who asked her for some change.
The victim told the man she had no money and turned back round to continue walking.
The man then attempted to grab hold of her black rucksack which she was carrying on her back.
Fortunately, the victim managed to run away and nothing was taken from her bag.
A female member of the public witnessed the incident and told the man to go away.
The man is described as white, approximately 6 ft tall, of slim build. He was wearing a hi-vis waistcoat and a grey beanie hat.
PC Holly Moffat said: “I would like to speak to the member of the public who was at the scene and is believed to have witnessed the incident. As well as telling the man to go away, she also attempted to speak to the victim to make sure she was ok, but the victim ignored her because she wanted to get home quickly.
“Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
