Swindon Independent is a group of experienced community-minded people considering put forward Independent Councillors in the 5 May elections for councillors to sit on Swindon Borough Council.
Nationwide, there are 2,500 independents and Swindon has in the past had inspirational Independents.
Party politics has been known to hinder local democracy. There are several contentious community issues in the town. I believe that more Independent voices need to be heard and responded to with accountable action.
Swindon Independent invites you to share your views on whether the time is right for this historic change in Swindon and what role, if any, you might play. All are welcome to a public meeting on Thursday 17 March, 7pm to 9pm, at Coleview Community Centre, Towcester Road, SN3 4AS.
Tony Hillier – pictured – will be standing for election on 5 May. He said: “It’s time for people before politics. I look forward to exploring this further in a positive manner via print and social media and especially at this watershed public meeting. I welcome your viewpoints.”
