As Swindon turns 175 years old, Hilton Swindon celebrates the anniversary with a wedding themed campaign, 175 Years, 175 Brides.
The hotel is inviting the Swindon community to participate in their celebrations by submitting wedding photographs of themselves, friends and relatives that have married in the town over the last 175 years.
Once it has received 175 pictures, Hilton Swindon will select a winning photograph. The prize is a fabulous minimoon break to be spent at the hotel every year for five years.
Hilton Swindon will announce the winner at a special reception at the hotel on Thursday 9 June 2016, 6.30 pm – 9.00 pm.
The reception will be open to everyone, so whether you’re married, engaged or a fellow Swindonian, you’re invited to attend. You’ll enjoy drinks on arrival and canapés throughout the evening. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to have a behind the scenes tour, discuss wedding packages available at the hotel and meet local businesses such as florists, photographers and bridal shops.
Maxine Gall, events manager at Hilton Swindon, said: “We’ve held hundreds ofweddings at Hilton Swindon since we opened in 1994. Our Great Western Way location, quality service and competitive pricing make us the ideal choice for many a couple tying the knot in Swindon. Now, as new Swindon celebrates 175 years, we can’t wait to look back on some of the weddings the town has hosted throughout the years.”
Among the many supporters of the event are Swindon 105.5 FM, Goldsworthy’s, Venues Covered and Swindon PA Hire.
Hilton Swindon sits in the picturesque Wiltshire countryside, just three miles from Swindon town centre. With 171 comfortable rooms and suites, great menu options and a choice of facilities, it can provide everything you need for an amazing wedding day.
This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of new Swindon. Sir Daniel Gooch (1816 –1889), 1st Baronet, Conservative politician and Great Western Railway chairman from 1865 to 1889, put Swindon on the map when, in 1840, he recommended the town as the site for locomotive engine repair works. Work began the following year, laying the foundations of the successful town we live in today.
