Registration for this years Run The Rainbow event on 17 September in Lydiard Park is still open, and is just £15 if you register before 30 April.
After the huge success of last year’s first ever Run the Rainbow, Prospect Hospice are delighted to once again be running this fun-filled event suitable for everyone. Grab your white event t-shirt and prepare to have coloured powder paint thrown at you across the 5km multi terrain course so you finish all the colours of the rainbow.
Registration for Run the Rainbow will be at 10am and the run starts at 11am. T-shirts are available to collect from the Prospect Hospice Garden Fete which is being held on Saturday 5 September on the grounds of the hospice in Wroughton. If you are unable to collect the t-shirt from the fete, then you can collect your t-shirt when you register on the day.
The paint is a coloured corn starch and is approved for use in foods and cosmetics, non hazardous or toxic and conforms to EU Regulation: (EC) No. 1223/2009. The colour is non toxic and a quick rinse with some water to remove it from eyes, although it is recommended that participants wear sunglasses to reduce the chances of getting paint in their eyes. All of the paint thrown will also be aimed at your body and never at your face.
It won’t cause you any harm if you do inhale it, a bit like breathing in dust, but extensive exposure isn’t recommended, and although it is safe to eat it doesn’t taste very nice so isn’t recommended either. The paint is easiest to get off when it’s dry so having a jump around and shake about should get rid of most if it. Good old fashioned soap and water will remove anything that’s left.
