From this Sunday, 24 April, passengers travelling on Thamesdown Transport services will be able to top-up their four-week TravelPass directly from the driver.
Previously the tickets could only be bought at the Thamesdown Travel Shop, or online for those renewing their TravelPass.
However, recognising that passengers often prefer to buy their tickets when they board, Thamesdown has extended the availability of the four-week TravelPass.
Explaining the move Peter Oliver, Commercial Director for Thamesdown, said: “Over the last four months we’ve been working to make changes to the Swindon TravelPass to make it easier for our passengers to buy the best fare for them in the way they find it easiest.
“December saw the launch of our new TravelCards in conjunction with Stagecoach, which are valid on each other’s buses for no additional charge. January saw the launch of online top-ups for all full adult fares on the new cards and now we have the extension to the four week fare renewal.
“The one week and four week TravelPass fares are some of our most popular products. By making them available on the buses, our customers have a much greater choice when it comes to renewing their tickets. It has never been easier for customers to buy and use the Swindon TravelPass.”
Passengers holding a Young Persons TravelPass, available to those aged 20 and under, will also be able to renew their one- or four-week ticket directly from the driver as well as at the Travel Shop on Fleming Way.
The new Thamesdown Travelcard is available free of charge either online at www.thamesdownbus.com or from the Thamesdown Travel Shop on Fleming Way.
Holders of the old Thamesdown Smartcards, which feature a picture of Thamesdown bus, are encouraged to swap their cards to the new purple TravelCard as soon as possible to be able to benefit from online top-ups and the ability to seamlessly use them on both Thamesdown and Stagecoach buses in the town.
