The Swindon Sports Forum steering group would like to invite your sports club to the next Swindon Sports Forum meeting on 21 April, 6.30pm to 8.45pm, in the Legends Lounge, Swindon Town FC, County Road, Swindon SN1 2ED.
The aims of this important meeting are to inform local sports clubs of the likely impact of new national and local sports policy, to discuss what support clubs need to maintain current levels of participation, and how clubs could think about increasing membership and funding in the future.
Jim Barrett from Sport England will address the meeting about the impact of the new DCMS Sports Strategy from their perspective. He will join a Panel consisting of Steve Boocock (WASP), Patrick Weir (SBC), representatives of GLL and Swindon Sports Forum.
This will be followed by a workshop style discussion where you can discuss how this will impact your club.
This year’s Sports Forum Grants application process will also be announced.
Chair of the Forum, Dave Bell said: “This event will help the Sport Forum steering group plan for the future to ensure provision for community sport continues to be seen as an important issue in Swindon.
“The Government released a new strategy for sport in December, Sport England is subsequently renewing their strategy and we need to be in a position to ensure that sport remains high on the local political agenda to safeguard future resources. We would like to encourage all sports clubs in Swindon to attend and take an active part in the discussion.”
Tea and coffee will be provided.
