Great Western Youth Brass Band held a residential weekend for all band members at Lydiard House Conference Centre between 21 and 22 May.
A great weekend enjoyed by everyone involved, the children had lots of extra rehearsal time with an invited guest conductor – David Hirst, a very well respected member of the brass band community. They also enjoyed free time, making use of the pool and other facilities on site. It was a great opportunity for band members to bond and create lasting friendships.
The Rising Stars beginner’s band members joined in on both mornings and culminated in a concert at St Andrews Church in Moredon on the Sunday afternoon.
The band is always looking for help with fund raising and sponsorship and is keen to recruit new players and helpers. Offering free instrument loan and rehearsals are held on a Saturday morning in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at St Andrews Church, the band will be performing in Swindon Town Gardens during the afternoon on Sunday 5 June and will also be at the Armed Forces Day event on 25 June at Swindon Rugby Club.
