Wiltshire Police report that an 18-year-old man is in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs on Friday 20 May.
At 11.25am, dog handler PC Neil Parsons and his PD Charlie were on patrol in the Coate area of Swindon when they spotted a red Suzuki Swift believed to be involved in drug related activity in the town.
The vehicle was stopped in Guildford Avenue and a section 23 drugs search was carried out on both the car and the driver.
PD Charlie, a drugs, cash and firearms recovery dog, searched the vehicle and a number of packages believed to contain class A drugs, cash and drugs paraphernalia were seized. Further drugs and cash were also recovered at the man’s home address.
The driver, an 18-year-old from Swindon, was arrested and taken to custody at Gablecross where he remains.
Tri-Force Dog Unit Inspector Dave Eddy said: “This type of job is exactly what our dogs like Charlie are trained to do. In this incident, Charlie was able to locate several packages of suspected class A drugs as well as cash within the vehicle which led to the arrest. The drugs have now been seized and one man is in custody as a result of this dog’s skills. An excellent result.”
If you suspect drug activity to be taking place in your area, we would encourage you to call 101 immediately.
