The theme for the ninth Swindon and Wiltshire Pride has now been announced as “Love For All”, with the event only 93 days away (20 August).
Pride’s aims have, throughout its history, been the promotion of equality and diversity within the community and this year’s theme is intended as a strong endorsement and message in support of these aims.
Pride 2016 is therefore sending out an invitation to the community at large to come and join them in a celebration of the right for “Love For All” and all the progress that has been made in making this a reality for many people and also to join together in a show of solidarity with those that don’t yet enjoy their entitlement to love and be loved.
This event is designed to truly be a community wide event, which is inclusive of everyone. For this reason, Swindon and Wiltshire Pride continue to strive to make this a free event and as such are fundraising throughout the year.
Upcoming events include a Ride for Pride on 3 July (with practice rides on 5 June), and The Pride Beach Party on 16 July. Further details can be found on the Pride website.
The group also rely heavily on volunteers to help run the event. Volunteering at pride is a fun and rewarding experience where you get to meet and work alongside lots of new people and really feel part of the event.
There are lots of volunteering opportunities, including helping set up and clear away on the day and before and after the event, walking vehicles on or off site, putting up fences, moving stock, providing information to people about the event, walking along with the parade, clearing litter, clearing stalls holders, running the merchandising store or Family zone or helping the performers backstage.
