There were smiles all round yesterday when Jackie and Roger Sansum from The Old Post Office Guest House in South Marston collected their award for being finalists in the AA Friendliest Bed and Breakfast Award 2016 sponsored by eviivo.
Jackie and Roger were among the 23 finalists who were nominated by AA Inspectors who inspect and rate over 2300 B&Bs throughout the United Kingdom.
The awards, presented at the annual ceremony at the London Landmark Hotel, include guest accommodation for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as the awards for Funkiest Bed and Breakfast and Friendliest Bed and Breakfast.
The Old Post Office has been in the Sansum family for almost a century and started welcoming B&B guests in 2007. Before running the B&B Jackie was a professional Operatic Soprano and often has guests requesting favourite arias over breakfast. Guests enjoy a real ‘home from home’ experience with Jackie and Roger always going that extra mile to ensure their guests’ stay is enjoyable and memorable.
Peter Laigaard Jensen, Head of AA Hotel & Hospitality Services said, ‘It is an absolute pleasure to celebrate and recognise all of our 2016 AA Bed & Breakfast award winners here in London. To run a Bed & Breakfast is a very personal thing and it takes a lot of dedication as well as passion and with such great establishments from all over the United Kingdom, it only confirms the strength and depth that the B&B market has to offer. Each of these B&Bs offer great hospitality and are passionate about giving their guests the best possible experience during their stay.’
Jackie Sansum said, ‘Being nominated as a finalist in the AA Friendliest B&B Award for 2016 is a tremendous honour and we are totally shocked to have received such an accolade for doing the job we love. When you meet so many lovely people on a day to day basis it is very easy to stay happy and to be acknowledged for that happiness is fantastic.’
